Temple Health and Bioscience District
The Temple Health and Bioscience District is a public entity established to foster education and careers in bioscience in the Central Texas region. Scholarshuips are given to students at the Texas Bioscience Institute who participate in summer research classes, dual credit courses, math and science tutoring, and summer math camps.
Impact
When my friends are talking about going out, I am at home studying. This is my choice because I know I’m doing something bigger and better. But I couldn’t do this without a scholarship. My family doesn’t have the money to pay tuition, and I can’t afford to not work during the summer. Because I got the scholarship for the summer, I was able to participate in the summer internship. No one in my high school gets to do anything like that, and it is what is going to make me even further ahead than not just the incoming freshmen, but also the regular university sophomores. I’ve had field experience and I’ve got a degree. None of them have that!
