The Sharon D. Long Nursing Scholarship was established in honor of my mom, who spent 25 years as an LVN before retiring in 2001. She worked most of her career in a pediatric clinic. As her daughter, I can remember as a child being in a store or restaurant and children of all ages waving or running up to her to give her a hug because she was their nurse. Later, I can remember adults walking up to her and telling her “you may not remember me, but I remember you; you were my nurse”. She touched hundreds of lives over the years and made a memorable impact on many. We hope this scholarship can help aspiring nurses to achieve their dream and impact many more lives in the future.
