LULAC
This performance event was developed by the Temple College Humanities Series in an effort to explore, celebrate and showcase Latino culture. Students compete for scholarship awards after participating in intensive mentoring, research and presentation experiences. Final presentations are open to the public and are judged according to their interactive, educational and entertainment value. Scholarships are sponsored by the Temple College Humanities Series in partnership with Temple College Young Adult LULAC Council 22305 and Adult LULAC Council 4971 (League of United Latin American Citizens).
Impact
As students interact with community members, they will grow to understand and celebrate within or outside their own cultural experiences. Mentors make the difference between ‘book learning’ and authentic research for these students as they share their own stories, their family history, and various resources that they might have."
