Kent and Joan Bohls
Michelle Otto used her creative writing skills to tell the stories that made her job as a paramedic a poignant journey through the lives of those she touched. She told stories of the hug she gave to a woman who had just lost her husband because she knew that there was nothing in her “tool box” that would help her handle her grief. She also shared the story of the man who had stopped at a roadside accident and administered first aid and cpr until she arrived. After taking over his care, and evacuating the patient, she turned to thank the anonymous helper, and found he’d slipped away. Together, they’d saved a life that neither would ever know.
