G.C. and Durinda Slough
G.C. and Durinda came to Temple in 1956 and established Shallow Ford Construction Company. They built a beautiful home on a cliff at the end of Slough Drive. In their estate, they left an endowment for the Temple College Foundation – a continuation of their desire to improve the community that had been so good to them.
Impact
I live in Austin and come to Temple because they have the best nursing program around. Once I got accepted into the program, I was so excited, but then I started and the reality set in. Trying to commute was adding over two hours of traffic to my day. It just got to be too much. Having a scholarship allowed me to get an apartment in Temple. Now that I’m here, and this is where I’m doing my clinicals and living, I could see staying here.
